Frequent TR6 Opening Issues

Spice Isn't There

When you double-click your TR6 file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Spice installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the TR6 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: Another TR6-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Wrong Version of Spice is Installed

Your SPICE Transient Analysis Output Data File file is incompatible with Spice because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest Spice version from the National Instruments website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.

Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your TR6 file and clicking "Properties".

Regardless, most of the TR6 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Spice installed.
