RLU File Complications
Common RLU Opening Problems
Unknown Software Removed
If you attempt to load your RLU file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open RLU Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Unknown Software installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your RLU with Unknown Software, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your RLU, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Unknown Software is Out-of-Date
Your Unknown File Type file is incompatible with Unknown Software because you might have the wrong version installed. Installing the latest version of Unknown Software from Unknown Developer is recommended. This issue mainly occurs when your Unknown File Type file was created by a newer version of Unknown Software than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your RLU file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening RLU files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading RLU Files
Although you might already have Unknown Software or another RLU-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Unknown File Type files. If you're still experiencing problems opening RLU files, there could be other computer problems. Problems unrelated to software:
- Invalid RLU file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry RLU description
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the RLU format
- File corruption affecting your RLU file
- Malware-tainted RLU file can't be opened
