KOD Troubleshooting
Frequent KOD Opening Issues
Unknown Software Removed
You attempt to load your KOD file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The KOD File Extension". If so, it typically means that you don't have Unknown Software installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your KOD with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens KOD files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Unknown Software is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of Unknown Software won't support your Code File file. If you've got the wrong version of Unknown Software installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your Code File file was probably created by a newer release of Unknown Software than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your KOD, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening KOD files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Additional KOD Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right Unknown Software version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening KOD files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading KOD files, other external issues might be to blame. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for KOD
- The KOD file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Partial installation of Unknown Software that did not fully complete
- Something has caused file corruption of your KOD
- The KOD is infected with a virus
- KOD-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Code File file
Quiz: Which of these is considered a vector image file?
That's Correct!
The unique thing about vector files such as AI and EPS is that graphic details (eg. sizes and shapes of objects) and text remains editable. This allows you can save and re-open them in Illustrator and edit text or other elements within the graphic.
